I'm Australian and I'm not sure how their systems are working scientists. However, are not from the perspective of the techies, drama and cinema interchangeable. The lighting is different from most other devices are different, as a show produced and directed a film is different. You probably want to transfer - that said, it is not bad for an understanding of the theater crew approaches (eg, basic lighting design and sound design, etc., a good foundation for continuous learning) are in the movie, can not simply just happen to the crew of high-tech cinema, without an education in both. (In my humble opinion)
